Speaking Up for Disability: project to record oral histories of disabled people in West Sussex

Posted on 21/06/2011 by

Voice for Disability (formerly West Sussex Association for Disabled People) has announced its new oral history project called ‘Speaking up for Disability’. This project is funded by Heritage Lottery Fund and will run for two years.

‘Speaking up for Disability’ will map out the oral histories and heritage of a diverse group of disabled people from across West Sussex.  It will uncover attitudes towards disability,  how the experiences of disabled people in West Sussex have changed since the 1940s when Voice for Disability was set up, and the contribution disabled people have made to society in West Sussex.

For more information about the project, see the Voice for Disability website, or  get in touch the project coordinator Esther Gill on 01903 244457, or esther@ourhistories.co.uk.
