Within the British Library Sound Archive, this post requires a qualified archivist to take the lead within the Oral History section (encompassing National Life Stories) for archives, records and data policy and management, including cataloguing and digital workflows, public enquiry work, website and social media development. The post holder line manages an Assistant Archivist and supervises freelancers and contractors, together with the co-ordination of a national programme of oral history training.

The Oral History Archivist is an essential part of the Oral History and National Life Stories team working with the Oral History Curators, Interviewers and Transcribers. This post liaises with colleagues across the Library, particularly with those in Sound & Vision Technical Services, Web Services, and Corporate and Information Management Unit, to develop policy and strategies for the digitisation and preservation of Oral History collection material (audio, audio-visual and written documentation), collection-related records, and institutional records relating to National Life Stories.
